China's COVID Policy in Shanghai Lockdown Evokes Interest in Emigration

Big data tool provided by WeChat (the main social media in China) showed a 430% spike on the search of "emigration" on April 3, 2022. Similar spikes in internet search were seen after the constitutional amendment to abolish the term limit of the National President back in 2018. Singapore recently announced that it would raise the minimum amount of investment required for its immigration by investment program from around 3 million S$ to 20 million S$, allegedly in response to the increase of interest.
